Boar's Head Provision Company is a supplier of delicatessen meats, cheeses and condiments. The company was founded in 1905 in Brooklyn, New York, and now distributes its products throughout the United States.
History[edit]
Frank Brunckhorst founded Boar's Head Provision Company in 1905 when he was dissatisfied with the quality of cooked hams that were available to him. He started his own company to ensure the quality of the products he sold. The company's name was inspired by the historic tradition of sacrificing boars and presenting their heads at medieval banquets.
Products[edit]
Boar's Head offers a variety of products including deli meats, cheeses, condiments, and hot dogs. The company is known for its premium quality products that do not contain fillers, by-products, artificial colors or flavors, gluten or trans fat.
Distribution[edit]
Boar's Head products are sold at delis and select supermarkets throughout the United States. The company uses a unique distribution method where the products are delivered to stores five to six days a week.
Recognition[edit]
Boar's Head has received numerous awards and recognition for its products. In 2007, it was recognized by the American Culinary Institute for its low sodium ham and turkey.
