Comercial Mexicana[edit]
Comercial Mexicana is a former Mexican supermarket chain that was founded in 1930. It was one of the largest retail companies in Mexico, offering a wide range of products including groceries, household items, clothing, and electronics.
History[edit]
Comercial Mexicana was established by Antonio Gonzalez Cuesta in Mexico City. It started as a small grocery store and gradually expanded its operations over the years. In 1958, the company opened its first supermarket, which marked the beginning of its transformation into a major retail chain.
Throughout its history, Comercial Mexicana experienced significant growth and success. It opened numerous stores across Mexico and became a household name for Mexican consumers. The company also diversified its offerings by introducing new formats such as hypermarkets and convenience stores.
In 2016, Comercial Mexicana faced financial difficulties and decided to sell its retail operations to Soriana, another prominent Mexican supermarket chain. As a result, the Comercial Mexicana brand was discontinued, and its stores were rebranded as Soriana.
