The University of Eastern Finland (UEF) is a public university located in Finland. Established in 2010 through the merger of the University of Joensuu and the University of Kuopio, it is one of the largest universities in Finland. The university operates on three campuses in Joensuu, Kuopio, and Savonlinna.

The University of Eastern Finland was officially founded on January 1, 2010, following the merger of the University of Joensuu and the University of Kuopio. This merger was part of a broader reform of the Finnish university system aimed at improving the quality and efficiency of higher education.
Campuses[edit]
Joensuu[edit]

The Joensuu campus is located in the city of Joensuu, which is the capital of the North Karelia region. It is known for its focus on education, humanities, and social sciences.
Kuopio[edit]

The Kuopio campus is situated in the city of Kuopio, in the region of Northern Savonia. This campus specializes in health sciences, natural sciences, and environmental sciences.
Savonlinna[edit]
The Savonlinna campus was primarily focused on teacher education. However, in 2018, the operations of the Savonlinna campus were transferred to Joensuu.
Academic Structure[edit]
The University of Eastern Finland is organized into four faculties:

- Faculty of Science and Forestry
- Faculty of Health Sciences
- Faculty of Social Sciences and Business Studies
Each faculty offers a range of undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs.
