Valerie Bertinelli[edit]
Valerie Anne Bertinelli (born April 23, 1960) is an American actress and television personality. She is known for her roles on the television series One Day at a Time, Touched by an Angel, and Hot in Cleveland. Bertinelli has also hosted several cooking shows on the Food Network.
Early Life[edit]
Valerie Bertinelli was born in Wilmington, Delaware, to Nancy and Andrew Bertinelli, a General Motors executive. She grew up in a Roman Catholic household with her three brothers. The family frequently moved due to her father's career, living in places such as Claymont, Delaware, Clarkston, Michigan, Shreveport, Louisiana, and Los Angeles, California.

Acting[edit]
Bertinelli's acting career began in 1975 when she was cast as Barbara Cooper Royer on the CBS sitcom One Day at a Time. The show was a hit, and Bertinelli became a household name. She remained with the series until its end in 1984.
In the 1990s, Bertinelli starred in the television drama Touched by an Angel and appeared in several made-for-TV movies. In 2010, she returned to sitcoms with a starring role in Hot in Cleveland, which aired on TV Land until 2015.

Bertinelli has also found success as a television host. She has hosted Valerie's Home Cooking and Kids Baking Championship on the Food Network, showcasing her culinary skills and engaging personality.
Personal Life[edit]
In 1981, Bertinelli married Eddie Van Halen, the guitarist of the rock band Van Halen. The couple had one son, Wolfgang Van Halen, born in 1991. Bertinelli and Van Halen divorced in 2007, but they remained on good terms until his death in 2020.
Bertinelli has been open about her struggles with weight and self-image, which she has discussed in her books and interviews. She has also been involved in various charitable activities and advocacy work.
