Final Cut Pro is a professional non-linear video editing software application developed by Apple Inc.. It was first released in 1999 and has since undergone significant changes and improvements. The software is part of the Pro Apps family of software programs that Apple creates for the professional design market, which also includes Logic Pro, Aperture, and others.
Overview[edit]
Final Cut Pro provides non-linear, non-destructive editing of any QuickTime-compatible video format including DV, HDV, P2 MXF (DVCProHD), XDCAM (via plug-in), and 2K film formats. It supports a number of simultaneously composited video tracks (limited mainly by video form factor and hardware capability); up to 99 audio tracks; multi-camera editing for combining video from multiple camera sources; as well as standard ripple, roll, slip, slide, scrub, razor blade and time remapping edit functions.
Features[edit]
Final Cut Pro includes a comprehensive range of features designed to cater to filmmakers, film editors, and other professionals. Some of the key features include:
- Multicam Editing: This feature allows editors to sync up to 64 angles of video with different formats, frame sizes, and frame rates.
- Magnetic Timeline: This feature offers a flexible, trackless approach to editing, where clips move out of the way to avoid clip collisions and sync problems.
- Advanced Color Grading: Final Cut Pro offers professional color grading tools, including a dedicated color inspector with color wheels, color curves, hue/saturation curves, and keyframes to adjust corrections over time.
- 360° Video Editing: Final Cut Pro includes 360° video editing and VR headset playback, allowing editors to create immersive 360° films.
System Requirements[edit]
Final Cut Pro requires a Mac with macOS 10.14.6 or later, 4GB of RAM (8GB recommended for 4K editing, 3D titles, and 360° video editing), OpenCL-capable GPU graphics card or Intel HD Graphics 3000 or later, 256MB of VRAM (1GB recommended for 4K editing, 3D titles, and 360° video editing), 3.8GB of available disk space.
