Morton's The Steakhouse is a chain of steakhouse restaurants with locations in the United States and franchised abroad. The company was founded in Chicago in 1978 by Arnie Morton and Klaus Fritsch.

History[edit]

Arnie Morton and Klaus Fritsch founded Morton's The Steakhouse in 1978 in Chicago. The two had previously worked together at the Playboy Club, where Fritsch was a chef and Morton was a food and beverage operations director. The idea for the restaurant came about when Morton tasted a hamburger prepared by Fritsch and declared it to be the best he'd ever had.

Morton's The Steakhouse quickly gained popularity for its high-quality steaks and upscale atmosphere. The restaurant expanded rapidly, with locations opening across the United States and eventually internationally.
