Methyltestosterone 3-hexyl ether is a synthetic, orally active anabolic-androgenic steroid (AAS) and a derivative of testosterone. It is an ether of methyltestosterone and is also known as 17α-methyltestosterone 3-hexyl ether.

Chemistry[edit]

Methyltestosterone 3-hexyl ether, like all AAS, is a synthetic derivative of the male hormone testosterone. It is an ether of methyltestosterone, which itself is a synthetic derivative of testosterone. The modification of adding a hexyl ether group to the 3-position of the testosterone molecule increases its oral bioavailability and resistance to metabolic breakdown.

Pharmacology[edit]

As an AAS, Methyltestosterone 3-hexyl ether is primarily used in the treatment of low testosterone levels in men. It can also be used in hormone therapy for transgender men.
