TestFlight is an online service provided by Apple Inc. that allows developers to test software and apps before they are released on the App Store. It was originally founded as a separate company in 2010, but was acquired by Apple in 2014.

History[edit]

TestFlight was launched in 2010 by the company FlightPath. It was designed to provide a simple way for developers to distribute beta versions of their apps to testers. In 2012, TestFlight launched TestFlight Live, a service that provided real-time analytics to developers.

In 2014, TestFlight was acquired by Apple Inc., and was integrated into the iOS Developer Program. As part of this integration, TestFlight Live was discontinued, and the original TestFlight service was significantly revamped.

Functionality[edit]

TestFlight allows developers to invite users to test their apps before they are released on the App Store. Developers can invite up to 10,000 testers using their email addresses or a public link. Testers then receive an email with a link to download the TestFlight app, where they can download and test the beta version of the app.

TestFlight also provides developers with detailed feedback and crash reports, helping them to identify and fix issues before the app is released to the public.

Usage[edit]

To use TestFlight, developers need to upload a beta version of their app to App Store Connect, and then invite testers. Testers need to have the TestFlight app installed on their device, and need to accept the invitation to test the app.
