Sandy's was founded in 1960 by four business partners: Gus "Brick" Lundberg, Robert C. Wenger, Paul White, and Harold Shostrom. The first location was in Peoria, Illinois, and the chain quickly expanded throughout the Midwest. By 1973, Sandy's had over 240 locations across the United States.
