Sabra (company)[edit]
Sabra is a well-known food company that specializes in the production and distribution of a variety of Mediterranean-inspired dips and spreads, most notably hummus. The company was established in 1986 in Queens, New York, and has since grown to become a leading brand in the hummus market in the United States.
History[edit]
Sabra was founded by Zohar Norman, an Israeli immigrant, and Yehuda Pearl, a businessman. The company initially started as a small operation, producing and selling fresh, authentic Mediterranean dips and spreads in the local market. In 2005, the company was acquired by Strauss Group, a multinational food products manufacturer based in Israel. Later in 2007, PepsiCo joined as a partner, owning 50% of the company. This partnership helped Sabra to expand its reach and increase its market share in the United States.
Products[edit]
Sabra offers a wide range of products, including various flavors of hummus, guacamole, tzatziki, salsa, and other Mediterranean-inspired dips and spreads. The company is committed to using high-quality ingredients and traditional recipes to create its products. Sabra's hummus is particularly popular, and it is available in a variety of flavors, including classic, roasted garlic, supremely spicy, and others.
Facilities[edit]
Sabra operates a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Colonial Heights, Virginia. The facility, which opened in 2010, is the largest hummus manufacturing plant in the world. It is responsible for producing the majority of Sabra's products for the U.S. market.
Sustainability[edit]
Sabra is committed to sustainability and has implemented several initiatives to reduce its environmental impact. The company's manufacturing facility in Virginia has been LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certified, reflecting its commitment to sustainable practices.
