Nandrolone caproate is a synthetic anabolic steroid and a derivative of testosterone. It is also known as 19-nortestosterone 17β-hexanoate. This steroid is used in the treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women at a dose of 50 mg every three weeks. It is also used for some aplastic anemias.

Pharmacology[edit]

Nandrolone caproate is a prodrug of nandrolone. It is administered via intramuscular injection and it acts by stimulating the androgen receptor.

Side effects[edit]

The side effects of nandrolone caproate include virilization among others. It has a strong anabolic effect and weak androgenic effect, which give it a mild side effect profile and make it especially suitable for use in women.
