Introduction[edit]

SunnyD, officially known as Sunny Delight Beverages Co., is a popular brand of fruit-flavored beverages, primarily orange-flavored. The brand was first developed in 1963 by Doric Foods in Mount Dora, Florida, and has since become a household name in many parts of the world.

History[edit]

The SunnyD brand was first introduced by Doric Foods in 1963. The company was later acquired by Procter & Gamble in 1989. Under Procter & Gamble, the brand expanded its product line and reached a wider market. In 2004, the brand was sold to J.W. Childs Associates, a private equity firm. Today, SunnyD is owned by Brynwood Partners, another private equity firm, which purchased the brand in 2016.

Products[edit]

SunnyD offers a variety of fruit-flavored beverages. The original SunnyD is orange-flavored and is known for its sweet and tangy taste. Other flavors include Orange Strawberry, Orange Peach, and Orange Mango. The brand also offers a line of reduced-sugar beverages called SunnyD X.

Controversies[edit]

Despite its popularity, SunnyD has faced several controversies over the years. The brand has been criticized for its high sugar content and its marketing tactics, which have often targeted children. In response to these criticisms, SunnyD has made efforts to reduce the sugar content in its beverages and to promote healthier choices.

In Popular Culture[edit]

SunnyD has made several appearances in popular culture. The brand has been featured in various TV shows, movies, and music videos. It has also been mentioned in numerous songs and has even inspired a popular internet meme.
