Traumatic refers to any physical injury or wound caused by external force or violence. Traumatic injuries can result from a wide variety of blunt, penetrating and burn mechanisms, including motor vehicle collisions, falls, drowning, gunshots, and burns.

Types of Trauma[edit]

Trauma can be classified into two main types: Physical trauma and Psychological trauma.

  • Physical trauma is an injury to the body caused by physical harm from an external source. This can include injuries from falls, motor vehicle collisions, sports injuries, and violence.
  • Psychological trauma is a type of damage to the mind that occurs as a result of a severely distressing event. This can include experiences such as war, rape, natural disasters, and severe physical abuse.

Effects of Trauma[edit]

The effects of trauma can be both physical and psychological, and can include PTSD, depression, anxiety, and physical injuries such as broken bones, burns, and head injuries.

Treatment[edit]

Treatment for trauma can involve a combination of physical and psychological therapies, including psychotherapy, medication, and physical therapy.
