Laterally refers to the anatomical term of location that denotes the side of the body or a body part that is farther from the middle or center of the body. Typically, lateral refers to the outer side of the body part, but it is also used to refer to the side of a body part. For example, when referring to the knee, lateral refers to the side of the knee farthest from the opposite knee.

Anatomy[edit]

In anatomy, laterality is the preference of the human body for one side over the other, such as the preference for using the right hand or right foot over the left, and vice versa. It can also refer to the dominance of the left or right hemisphere of the brain.

Lateral Movement[edit]

Lateral movement refers to the ability to move the body side to side. This is an important aspect of many sports and physical activities, and is a key component of overall agility and athleticism.

Lateral Thinking[edit]

Lateral thinking is a term coined by Edward de Bono in his 1967 book 'The Use of Lateral Thinking'. It involves solving problems through an indirect and creative approach, using reasoning that is not immediately obvious, and involving ideas that may not be obtainable by using only traditional step-by-step logic.
