John Alexander Morrison

John Alexander Morrison (born 1958) is a British physician and academic, who is currently the Professor of Cardiology at the University of Glasgow. He is known for his research in the field of cardiovascular disease, particularly in relation to heart failure and cardiac arrhythmia.

Early life and education

Morrison was born in 1958. He studied medicine at the University of Edinburgh, graduating with a MB ChB in 1982. He then undertook postgraduate research at the University of Glasgow, completing a PhD in 1989.

Career

In 1990, Morrison was appointed a lecturer in medicine at the University of Glasgow. He was promoted to senior lecturer in 1995, and to reader in 1999. In 2003, he was appointed Professor of Cardiology.

Morrison's research focuses on the mechanisms and treatment of heart failure and cardiac arrhythmia. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles in these areas.

Honours

In 2012, Morrison was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh.
