Salicylamide's mechanism of action is similar to that of aspirin. It inhibits [[prostaglandin]] synthesis and peripherally blocks pain impulse generation. It also produces antipyresis by acting on the hypothalamus to produce peripheral vasodilation and sweating.<br />
