It continues forward along the midline of the [[scrotum]] and upwards through the [[penis]] in males, and towards the [[vulva]] in females. This anatomical feature is a result of the fusion of the urogenital folds during embryonic development.<br /> <br /> ==Anatomy and Development==<br /> The perineal raphe is formed during the embryonic development of the [[urogenital system]]. In males, the urogenital folds fuse to form the [[scrotum]] and the [[penis]], while in females, these folds form the [[labia minora]].
