The procedure uses a thin, low-voltage electrified wire loop to cut out abnormal tissue.<br /> <br /> ==Procedure==<br /> LEEP is usually performed under local [[anesthesia]] in a doctor&#039;s office. The patient is positioned in a similar manner to a [[Pap smear]] procedure. A speculum is inserted into the vagina to allow the doctor to see the cervix.
