Guarnaschelli was born on June 20, 1972, in New York City, New York. She attended [[Barnard College]] and graduated with a degree in art history.

== Career ==

Guarnaschelli began her culinary career in France, where she studied at La Varenne Culinary School in Burgundy. She then worked at several renowned restaurants in France, including Guy Savoy's eponymous restaurant in Paris.

After returning to the United States, Guarnaschelli worked at various restaurants in New York City, including Daniel, Patroon, and Butter.
