== Function ==
TRPV6 is a member of a family of [[Transient receptor potential channel|TRP]] channels, which mediate sensory functions including pain, heat, taste, and vision. TRPV6 is thought to play a role in calcium absorption and reabsorption in the kidney. It is highly selective for calcium and is nearly impermeable to other cations.

== Clinical significance ==
Mutations in the ''TRPV6'' gene have been associated with [[Hypercalciuria|hypercalciuria]] and [[Nephrolithiasis|nephrolithiasis]].
