Dopamine is produced in several areas of the brain, including the [[substantia nigra]] and the [[ventral tegmental area]]. == Function == Dopamine is involved in many functions, including: * [[Motor control]]: Dopamine is critical for coordinating smooth and controlled movements. It is heavily involved in the [[nigrostriatal pathway]], which is a major dopamine pathway in the brain. * [[Reward and pleasure]]: Dopamine is often associated with the brain's reward system.
