Α-PCYP is a synthetic stimulant of the cathinone and pyrrolidine chemical classes that produces typical cathinone-like stimulating and euphoric effects when administered. It is structurally related to compounds such as Methcathinone, Pentedrone, and α-PVP, where the pyrrolidine ring has been replaced by a ketone. ==Chemistry== Α-PCYP is a synthetic cathinone. Cathinones are a sub-category of amphetamine, compounds originally derived from the Khat plant of eastern Africa. They feature a phenethylamine core with an alkyl group attached to the alpha carbon, and a ketone group attached to the beta carbon. In Α-PCYP, the normal pentyl chain of the cathinone has been replaced with a cyclohexyl group, and the pyrrolidine ring is attached to the alpha carbon. ==Pharmacology== Like other cathinones, Α-PCYP is thought to act as a norepinephrine-dopamine reuptake inhibitor (NDRI). It is believed to increase levels of norepinephrine and dopamine in the brain by inhibiting their reuptake into neurons. This leads to increased neuronal firing and release of these neurotransmitters, which can cause a range of stimulant effects. ==Effects== The effects of Α-PCYP can vary greatly depending on the dose, individual physiology, and method of administration. Common effects include stimulation, euphoria, increased alertness and focus, and increased sociability. However, higher doses or prolonged use can lead to negative effects such as anxiety, paranoia, and psychosis. ==Legal Status== The legal status of Α-PCYP varies by country and is often subject to change. In many countries, it is classified as a controlled substance due to its potential for abuse and addiction. ==See Also== * Cathinone * Pyrrolidine * Methcathinone * Pentedrone * α-PVP stimulant-stub pharm-stub <gallery> File:Alpha-PCYP structure.png|Α-PCYP </gallery>
