National Non-Smoking Week

National Non-Smoking Week is an annual event in Canada that aims to educate Canadians about the dangers of smoking, prevent people from starting to smoke, help people quit smoking, promote the rights of non-smokers, and denormalize the tobacco industry. During National Non-Smoking Week, various events are held across the country. These include:

• Weedless Wednesday: This event, held on the Wednesday of National Non-Smoking Week, encourages smokers to quit for at least one day, in the hope that this might challenge them to quit for good.

• Kick Butt Day: This event is aimed at youth and encourages them to stay smoke-free.

Impact

National Non-Smoking Week has been successful in raising awareness about the dangers of smoking and encouraging people to quit. However, despite these efforts, smoking remains a significant public health issue in Canada.
