HubMed

From WikiMD's medical encyclopedia

HubMed is an alternative interface to the PubMed medical literature database, designed to provide improved functionality over the standard PubMed interface. It was developed by Alf Eaton and launched in April 2003.

Overview

HubMed is a third-party tool that provides a more user-friendly way to access the PubMed database, which is maintained by the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI). It offers several features that are not available in the standard PubMed interface, such as citation analysis, visualisation of related articles, and export of references in various formats.

Features

Citation Analysis

HubMed provides a citation analysis feature, which allows users to see how often a particular article has been cited by other articles in the PubMed database. This can be useful for determining the impact of a particular piece of research.

Visualisation of Related Articles

Another feature of HubMed is the ability to visualise related articles. This is done using a graphical interface, which shows how closely related different articles are based on their content. This can be useful for finding additional relevant literature.

Export of References

HubMed also allows users to export references in various formats, including BibTeX, EndNote, and RefMan. This makes it easier for users to incorporate the references into their own work.
