Valentine (pronunciation: /ˈvalənˌtīn/) is a term not commonly used in the medical field. However, it is often associated with the heart due to its symbolic representation of love and affection.

Etymology

The term "Valentine" is derived from the Latin word Valentinus, a derivative of valens which means "strong, vigorous, healthy". The term is often associated with Saint Valentine, a 3rd-century Roman saint commemorated on February 14 and associated since the High Middle Ages with a tradition of courtly love.
