USPSTF - A volunteer group of public health professionals who review published research and make recommendations on health care methods such as screening tests, counseling, vaccinations, and medications. Before making a recommendation, the USPSTF reviews the strength (scientific quality and correctness) of the evidence found in the research and the benefits and harms of each method reviewed. Recommendations are made to help healthcare providers and patients decide whether a particular method is appropriate for a patient's needs.
