Unhealthy (ʌnˈhɛlθi)

Unhealthy is an adjective used to describe a state of poor health, or things that are detrimental to one's health. The term is derived from the Old English word "hǣlth", which means "wholeness, a being whole, sound or well."

Etymology

The term "unhealthy" is a combination of the prefix "un-", meaning "not", and the word "healthy". The word "healthy" is derived from the Old English "hǣlth", which is related to the Old High German "heilida" and the Old Norse "heilagr".
