Tension (medicine)

Tension (pronounced: /ˈtɛnʃən/) is a term used in medicine to describe the state of being stretched tight, or a measure of the tightness or stiffness of a muscle. It can also refer to mental or emotional strain.

The term "tension" originates from the Latin word "tensio", which means "a stretching".
