Sperm Banking - (pronounced) (Leap. . . ) The process of freezing sperm and storing it for future use. Samples of semen are collected and examined under a microscope in the laboratory to count the sperm and determine how healthy it is. The sperm cells are then frozen and stored. Sperm banks are often used for men who are following treatments that can lead to infertility, such as certain cancer treatments, want to have children. Sperm banks are a form of fertility maintenance. Also called sperm cryopreservation
