Puto

Puto (/ˈpuːtoʊ/; from Spanish, meaning "little cake") is a type of steamed rice cake usually served as dessert or snack in the Philippines. It is traditionally made from slightly fermented rice dough (galapong).

Etymology

The term "puto" is derived from the Spanish word "pastel", which means "cake". It is believed to have been introduced to the Philippines during the Spanish colonial period.
