Psychological tests (pronunciation: psy·cho·log·i·cal tests) are a set of procedures designed to measure a person's cognitive abilities, personality traits, behavioral tendencies, or other psychological characteristics.

Etymology

The term "psychological tests" is derived from the Greek word "psyche" meaning "soul" or "mind", and the Latin word "testum" meaning "the lid of an earthen vessel, an earthen vessel, an urn" which metaphorically refers to "judgment" or "trial".
