Physical Education

Physical Education (pronounced fiz-i-kuhl ed-yoo-key-shun), often abbreviated as PE, is a course in the curriculum which utilizes learning in the cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains in a play or movement exploration setting.

Etymology

The term "Physical Education" is derived from the Latin words "physica" and "educatio". "Physica" means physical or natural, and "educatio" means a breeding, a bringing up, a rearing. Together, they represent the process of educating and developing the body, particularly through physical movement and exercise.
