pedicle flap - (pronounced) (PEH-dih-kul. . . ) A type of surgery used to restore the shape of the breast after a mastectomy. Tissue, including skin, fat, and muscle, is moved from an area of the body, such as the back or abdomen, to the chest to form a new breast mound. The flap of tissue, along with its blood vessels, remains connected to the body and is passed through a tunnel under the skin to the breast. A pedicle flap is a type of breast reconstruction
