Panda Express

Panda Express (/ˈpændə ɪkˈsprɛs/) is a fast food restaurant chain which serves American Chinese cuisine. With approximately 2,200+ locations, it is the largest Asian segment restaurant chain in the United States, where it was founded and is mainly located.

Etymology

The name "Panda Express" is a combination of two words. "Panda" is a reference to the national animal of China, symbolizing the Chinese origin of the food served in the restaurant. "Express" signifies the fast and efficient service provided by the restaurant chain.

History

Panda Express was founded in 1983 in Glendale, California, by Andrew and Peggy Cherng, and Andrew's father, Master Chef Ming Tsai Cherng. They started their food business with a sit-down restaurant called Panda Inn, which was successful and led to the creation of Panda Express. The first location was inside the Glendale Galleria shopping mall.

Menu

The menu at Panda Express features a variety of American Chinese dishes such as Orange Chicken, Beijing Beef, Mongolian Beef, and Kung Pao Chicken. In addition to these, they also serve a variety of sides including fried rice, chow mein, and steamed vegetables.
