Neoplastic

Neoplastic (pronunciation: /niːoʊˈplæstɪk/) is a term that pertains to a neoplasm, which is an abnormal growth of tissue caused by the rapid division of cells that have undergone some form of mutation. The growth of neoplasms may lead to the formation of a tumor.

Etymology

The term "neoplastic" is derived from the Greek words "neo-" meaning new, and "-plastikos" meaning formed. It was first used in the medical field in the 19th century.
