Muromonab (pronunciation: myoo-roe-MOE-nab) is a type of monoclonal antibody used in the treatment of transplant rejection. It is also known by its trade name, Orthoclone OKT3.

Etymology

The name "Muromonab" is derived from its composition: Murine (mouse) monoclonal antibody. It is a mouse antibody produced in the laboratory, designed to target and bind to a specific protein found on the surface of human T cells.

Usage

Muromonab is used to prevent or treat acute rejection in patients who have received a kidney transplant. It works by suppressing the body's immune response, preventing it from attacking the transplanted organ.
