Methasterone

Methasterone, also known as Superdrol or methyldrostanolone (pronunciation: me-tha-ste-rone), is a synthetic and orally active anabolic-androgenic steroid (AAS) that was never marketed through legitimate channels for medicinal purposes.

Etymology

The term "Methasterone" is derived from the combination of the words "methyl" and "drostanolone". "Methyl" refers to the addition of a methyl group to the 17th carbon position, which allows the steroid to pass through the liver without being destroyed. "Drostanolone" is a synthetic derivative of dihydrotestosterone (DHT), providing the base structure for Methasterone.

Usage

Methasterone was brought to market in 2005 as a dietary supplement by Designer Supplements LLC and was marketed as a prohormone and nutritional supplement. It is used by bodybuilders for its ability to increase muscle mass and strength. However, it is considered a controlled substance in many countries due to its potential for abuse and health risks.

Side Effects

The use of Methasterone can lead to a range of side effects, including liver toxicity, cardiovascular problems, changes in mood and behavior, and potential harm to the reproductive system. It is also known to cause a significant reduction in the production of testosterone.

Legal Status

In the United States, Methasterone is classified as a Schedule III controlled substance under the Controlled Substances Act. This means it is illegal to use or possess the drug without a prescription. In many other countries, including the United Kingdom and Canada, Methasterone is also considered a controlled substance.
