Metabolic Window

The Metabolic Window (pronunciation: meh-tuh-BOL-ik WIN-doh), also known as the Anabolic Window or Post-Exercise Nutrient Timing, is a term used in the field of Sports Nutrition and Exercise Physiology. It refers to a limited time period following physical activity during which the body's metabolism is particularly receptive to nutrient intake, potentially enhancing recovery and growth.

Etymology

The term "Metabolic Window" is derived from the words "metabolic", relating to Metabolism, and "window", used metaphorically to denote a period of opportunity or receptivity. The concept is based on the understanding that the body's metabolic processes are especially active and responsive to nutrients immediately following exercise.
