Mentor

Mentor (/ˈmɛntɔːr/, /ˈmɛntər/) is a term used to describe a person who provides guidance, advice, and support to a less experienced individual, often in a professional or academic setting.

Etymology

The term 'mentor' originates from the ancient Greek story of Odyssey, where a character named Mentor was the trusted friend of Odysseus and the guide and teacher of his son, Telemachus. The word has since been adopted into the English language to denote a person who imparts wisdom to and shares knowledge with a less experienced colleague.
