Lobenzarit

Lobenzarit (pronunciation: loh-BEN-zah-rit) is a pharmaceutical drug used in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and other autoimmune diseases.

Etymology

The term "Lobenzarit" is derived from the chemical name of the drug, which is 4-[[3-(4-chlorophenyl)-1-phenyl-1H-pyrazol-4-yl]methyl]benzoic acid. The name is a portmanteau of the words "benzarit" (a reference to the benzene ring structure in the molecule) and "loben" (a reference to the lobed structure of the molecule).

Usage

Lobenzarit is primarily used in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, a chronic inflammatory disorder that can affect more than just your joints. In some people, the condition can damage a wide variety of body systems, including the skin, eyes, lungs, heart and blood vessels. It is also used in the treatment of other autoimmune diseases, where the body's immune system mistakenly attacks its own cells.
