(LEH-mun) A small, yellow citrus fruit that is a source of citric acid and ascorbic acid (vitamin C) . The juice is used to flavor food and drink and to prevent scurvy. Lemon oil (scented liquid taken from the peel) is used in aromatherapy. The scientific name of the lemon tree is Citrus limon.
