Land Use

Land use (/lænd juːz/) refers to the management and modification of natural environment or wilderness into built environment such as fields, pastures, and settlements. It has a direct implication on biodiversity, climate, water resources, and other ecological functions.

Etymology

The term "land use" is derived from the English words "land" which means the solid surface of the earth and "use" which means to employ for some purpose.
