Intention

Intention (/ɪnˈtɛnʃən/) is a mental state that represents a commitment to carrying out an action or actions in the future. Intention involves mental activities such as planning and forethought.

Etymology

The term "intention" comes from the Latin word intentio, which means "a stretching out, straining, exertion, effort; attention," from intentus, past participle of intendere "to stretch out, strain."
