Histrelin acetate keeps the testicles from producing the male hormone testosterone by blocking other hormones needed for production. This can slow or stop the growth of cancer cells that need testosterone to grow. Histrelin acetate is also used under the brand name Supprelin LA to treat early puberty in both men and women. It's a type of LHRH (or GnRH) agonist and a type of androgen deprivation therapy that is reversible
