Hairbrush

A Hairbrush (/ˈhɛər.brʌʃ/) is a stick brush with rigid or soft spokes used in hair care for smoothing, styling, and detangling human hair, or for grooming an animal's fur. It can also be used for styling with a hairdryer.

Etymology

The term "hairbrush" is derived from the Middle English words "hare", meaning hair, and "brusche", meaning brush. This term has been in use since the 15th century.

Types of Hairbrushes

There are several types of hairbrushes, including:

  • Paddle brush: This is ideal for smoothing and detangling hair. It has a flat, wide, rectangular shape.
  • Round brush: This is used for blow-drying hair in different styles.
  • Teasing brush: This is used to add volume to the hair.
  • Vent brush: This is used for speeding up the drying process when blow-drying hair.
  • Wide tooth comb: This is used for detangling wet hair and for combing through curly hair.
