Emerging Diseases (pronunciation: /ɪˈmɜːdʒɪŋ dɪˈziːzɪz/) are diseases that have newly appeared in a population or have existed but are rapidly increasing in incidence or geographic range.

Etymology

The term "emerging" is derived from the Old French emerger, which means "to rise out" or "to come into view", and the Latin disease, which means "lack of ease".
