Emergency response plan

An Emergency response plan (pronunciation: /ɪˈmɜːdʒənsi rɪˈspɒns plæn/) is a set of procedures designed to mitigate the damage of potential events that could endanger an organization's ability to function. Such a plan includes measures that provide for the safety of personnel and, if possible, property and facilities.

Etymology

The term "Emergency response plan" is derived from the English words "emergency", "response", and "plan". "Emergency" comes from the Latin "emergere" meaning "to rise up or occur suddenly", "response" is from the Latin "respondere" meaning "to answer", and "plan" is from the French "plan" meaning "a detailed proposal for doing or achieving something".
