Compromised

Compromised (/kɒmprəˈmaɪzd/), derived from the Latin word compromissus, which means "mutually promised", is a term often used in the medical field to describe a state where the normal function of the body or a part of it is impaired or weakened.

Medical Usage

In medical terminology, the term "compromised" is often used to describe a patient's condition where their immune system is not functioning optimally, making them more susceptible to infections and diseases. This could be due to a variety of reasons such as age, underlying health conditions, or the side effects of certain treatments like chemotherapy. For example, a patient with a compromised immune system may be more prone to infections and may not respond to vaccinations as effectively as a person with a healthy immune system.
