A Clinical Data Repository (CDR) (pronounced: klin-i-kəl dā-tə rē-pä-zə-tȯr-ē) is a database that consolidates data from a variety of clinical sources to present a unified view of a single patient. It is a vital tool used in health informatics to collect, store and manage patient data.

Etymology

The term "Clinical Data Repository" is derived from the words "Clinical", which pertains to the observation and treatment of actual patients rather than theoretical or laboratory studies, "Data", which refers to facts and statistics collected together for reference or analysis, and "Repository", which means a place where things are stored.
