Captain D's

Captain D's (/ˈkæptɪn diːz/) is a U.S.-based chain of fast-casual seafood restaurants. The first one was opened in Donelson, Tennessee, on August 15, 1969. Known originally as Mr. D's Seafood and Hamburgers, it changed its company name to Captain D's Seafood in 1974 to focus on fish and chips, shrimp, and side dishes.

Etymology

The "D" in Captain D's originally stood for "Donelson," as the first location was opened in Donelson, Tennessee. The "Captain" part of the name was added to give the restaurant a maritime theme.
